The Return of Pontiac: GM Already Planning a Pontiac Comeback?
“Contrary to media speculation, General Motors has not announced any changes to its long-term viability plan or to the future status of any of its brands. GM is continuing to review its restructuring plan to go further and faster and best ensure its future success. Additional information will be released as any decisions are finalized
While the future of Pontiac remains secure for now, the marque is being shifted to a niche brand, leaving the mainstream market to GM’s Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC divisions in the US.” - More from The Motor Report…
“But… Pontiac is dead right? Well like zombies and Jesus, I’m holding out that Pontiac will rise again. I’m of the opinion that the nameplate is only taking a temporary hiatus, and that when GM is back to being profitable they will resurrect the brand to thunderous applause. My reasoning? It’s simply too historically important to let it die.” - More from WebRidesTV…
“So, a lot of people have picked up on my theme of asking why GM won’t sell Pontiac. There are eligible buyers, and they want to buy the brand for fair market price. So, why not sell? I suspect that GM’s board decided that Pontiac could be mothballed, and brought back after the government and unions sell their stake in the company. Both have said they intend to… who knows if they actually hold true” - More from ChristopherPrice.net…
“Auto brands that died and came back include Mini, Abarth, Audi. Heck, even the ENTIRE U.S. car industry shut down production during World War II, and returned.
Also, if you actually make some cars, you have a good chance of keeping the intellectual property viable.
So put Pontiac on hiatus for a few years. Fix the old ones up. And allow folks like ASC to come up with some fun things in the interim.” - More from BrandLandUSA…

I AM A PONTIAC FAN AND OWNER OF A FIREBIRD A FIREBIRD FORMULA AND A CORVETTE.I AM REALLY MAD WITH GM,WHAT WILL BE NEXT THE ELLIMINATION OF THE CORVETTE AND THE MASS PRODUCTION OF CARS LIKE THE SMART CAR,TELL YOU WHAT,IF GM DO THAT THEY WILL LOOSE ANOTHER CUSTUMER.
I don’t know why GM doesn’t just have a division called GMC that can market any of the old GM nameplates. For example GTO, Cutlass, Firebird, G8 – just call them “GMC” for the title and advertising and go ahead and make any iconic GM brand they want. The GM dealers would probably love it, I’d imagine the public would buy the products and GM would still only have the four brands to market.
That sounds like a great idea actually Randy, I’d probably buy one..
I want a midsize sporty car and GM has nothing for me anymore. Chevrolet’s have horrible cheap looking interiors and bland styling. I’m waaay to young to buy a Buick. Cadillac is too expensive. Moving to Ford?!
I’m telling you man, do not buy a ford. Buy a Camaro 2SS. They’re awesome and affordable. The most expensive 2ss loaded is about 40K tops. So look around and good luck!
Oh, and if you buy a camaro, you can send it here and they will convert it to a 2011 Trans Am!!! Here’s the link… http://transamdepot.com/phoenix-trans-am.cfm
Love my Pontiac solstice..awesome car
I’m a huge Pontiac fan and I can honestly say that from all the research I have done, if Pontiac was not worth keeping, it would be sold. Pontiac is a profitable brand that can bring sales back. Look at the G8. It did extremely well in sales and in Australia they are making the Wagon and the ST truck version and they are all selling like crazy. I was lucky enough to attend the Trans Am Nationals in August of 2009 and was able to see the unveiling of Kevin Morgans Prototype TA. The response was amazing and several people asked when they could buy one. There have been several companies doing the Trans Am conversions and lets face it, it looks a lot better than the Camaro. I think GM is waiting to see how well the conversions do and when the time is right, Pontiac will rise up from the ashes. If I could say just one thing to all the fans out there, it would be to not lose hope, sign the savingpontiac.org petition and we will all see Pontiac come back soon!
Pontiac needs to return. I plan on buying a firebird. I think that the firebird looks a lot better than the camaro. Bring Pontiac back, and BRING THE FIREBIRD BACK!!
I own a 2001 Grand AM GT, jet black with matching black trim. A sweet-sweet car that gets noticed and rivals the G6′s at the dealership where I get service. Such a sweet ride in fact that the dealership on occasion after getting service will call me and try to buy the car for their used car lot.
But I degress. I really hope that Pontiac will be resurrected some day. I’ve told my family for the last few years, wrote a letter to GM and even at the hotel that I work we recently had GM mangment people in house staying with us and upon checkout I jokingly told them this… I don’t drive GM. I don’t drive Chevrolet, nor Buick (which as someone stated above they’re to young to be seen in), nor Cadilac (which I can’t afford). No, I drive Pontiac and don’t know what I’ll buy in the future when I need to replace my GT now that Pontiac is being retired. It’s not often you get to yell at, even jokingly, GM people in person…
KB
HEY G.M.C. YES PLEASE bring back the TRANS AM” GTO”
BONNEVILLE” GRAND AM ? G6
LOVE my 2000 SSEI……………….GM you really can’t let your diehard customers down…..bring back PONTIAC
talk up bringing back Pontiac to your friends and email or call your congressmen with savepontiac.org. Do it. I find that there isn’t much to get excited about whenI pickup my favorite car magazines anymore as the shift to econocrapboxes takes over. Though this view isn’t popular,I think the alternative fuel movement is dead wrong. Nothing beats oil, there’s plenty of it and to go on believing we can find a suitable replacement is fools folly. Dispute this… Nothing even comes close in terms of value, power per dollar, and we are spending billions searching and pushing this alternative jive, with nothing even coming close. Savingpontiac.org
i have a 2007 pontiac G6, retractable h/t convertable & absolutely love it, it is the best car i have had in many years & i have had mostly all pontiacs… i was quite saddened when pontiac left the scene, especiall with the native american theme and being native american blood line….if it came down to having to buy another car, i would be hard pressed to find any replacement for pontiac!!!! chevrolet, buic, cadilac, ford, dodge etc…. NO STYLE, NO CLASS!!!! BRING BACK THE STYLE AND CLASS, BRING BACK PONTIAC!!!!!!!
Chuck thenative American part was great. Instead of complaining about it insulting you,you see it as a positive. Righton. Lets call the congress. It’s easy and if enough get off their arse and email/call we could turn it around remember the mustang was slated for extinction in early 80′s but the public would have none of it. Letters and calls brought it back better than ever. And that’s what needs to happen at Pontiac.
I own a G8 and will trade for another G8, but Pontiac has to come back. That brand been in my family since I was a kid and love their designs.
Just pissed at the current admin of canning Pontiac.
About Saturn… It does not hurts a bit.
I am 23 and was planing on buying a brand new firebird when i finsihed college, but as it stand now, im gunna sell my GM stock and my small collection of GM cars because they have been so bass ackwards about knowing what sells and what is a minor set list of vehicles
they have, if the greediness cant get under control (the big wigs) i see GM folding in the next 10 years
